Premier Roofing recently completed a new roof at 365 George Road in Toms River for Pat Downs. Pat’s old roof was leaking in two places; above the bathroom fan and above the garage area. The garage area was leaking badly and we needed to replace all the old plywood. We also replaced all the flashing to seal any leaks and replaced Pat’s old asphalt shingles with new Owens Corning Duration Series Shingles.

Premier was extremely polite and professional. They had a fair price. The project manager was very thorough. I received other estimates and it was clear who we were going with from the second we sat down.
We were so excited to be able to help a family in need this Holiday Season. The Manning family win Beachwood, NJ had an old leaky roof and did not have the funds to replace it. Mother and wife Linda Manning is employed as a respiratory therapist but was limited to working three days a week following surgery to remove cancer from her kidney. This put a huge dent in the family finances and their ability to make needed repairs. We were able to install a completely new roof, just 2 days before Christmas. The Manning family is now safe, warm and dry in their home.
“This Christmas Premier Roofing restored my belief in humanity. Typically contractors do not bring welcomed news but a knock on the door, two days before Christmas, came with the amazing news that Premier Roofing had chosen our family to help as this is something they do, the caring company that they are, to help a family during the Christmas season.” – Linda Manning
Premier Roofing recently installed a new 50 year roof in Toms River, NJ for John Goodman (not the actor) at 2229 Audubon Drive. The new roof is a “50 year roof” because the shingles are warantied for 50 years. The existing roof was covered with old Tamko dimensional shingles. Tamko is a decent product but their warranty is inferior to Owens Corning and as we know, all things degrade over time. We were able to enhance the look of this home using TruDefinition® Duration® Shingles. These Owens Corning shingles are specially formulated to provide greater contrast and dimension to any roof. Through the use of multiple granule colors and shadowing, TruDefinition® Duration® Shingles offer a truly unique and dramatic effect. The exclusive combination of color and depth is what makes TruDefinition® Duration® Shingles like no other.

Your roof is one of the first lines of defense against the elements and should be in great condition. If you’ve noticed damage to your roof or you want to have a new roof installed, you’ll need a skilled and experienced roofer. But how exactly do you know if they are qualified? By asking a few simple questions, it’s easy to find the right professional roofers for the job.
Licensed Professional Roofers
You should always ask professional roofers whether or not they are licensed. Not only does a license legally qualify them to work on your roof but it is proof that they actually know what they are doing. Codes and requirements for roof installation and repair vary from state to state- so make sure they are licensed where you live. It is also essential that their license is up to date so you can be sure they know all of the most recent code requirements.
Full Insurance Coverage
Roofing is a dangerous job, which makes insurance coverage an absolute necessity. This includes both workman’s compensation insurance as well as general liability insurance. If someone is injured on your property, you could be liable for their medical bills. It’s also important that your property and belongings are protected by a strong insurance plan. If something goes wrong and your property or belongings get damaged, you will want to be fully insured. The insurance should list your name and address as additionally insured, or you could be legally liable.
Professional roofers will be able to evaluate if you need to remove the old roof before installing a new one however stripping off the old roof first is usually recommended and will provide you with the best finished project. Some roofing companies will try to cut corners by placing shingles over the existing roof in situations where the roof should be fully replaced. This can leave unseen soft spots or rotten wood untreated, as your roof’s condition continues to deteriorate. If professional roofers try to convince you that the previous roof does not need to be removed, get a second opinion.
The Proper Equipment
Some professional roofers will try to keep equipment costs low by only using the bare minimum to get the job done. You need to make sure that the company you use will be using ladder stabilizers. These are arms that rest on the side of the building on both sides of a ladder. This keeps the weight even on the ladder and stops the ladder from resting directly on the edge of the roof. Ladder stabilizers not only make for a safer environment, but they protect your gutters from damage. If a roofer attempts to simply toss a ladder onto the side of your home, their weight will crush your gutters, creating yet another expense.
After a natural disaster or hurricane, there are often swarms of roofing contractors that come to the area looking for work. While most of these professional roofers are probably trustworthy, there is a greater risk of someone disappearing if the job does not go as planned. It’s important that the roofing company you hire has a physical, local address and phone number. You are much more likely to find a trustworthy roofer if they have a stationary location.
Professional Roofers You Can Trust
If you are looking for a trustworthy roofing company that will go the extra mile to get the job done correctly, look no further. Premier Roofing is here for all of your home roofing needs. Whether you need to repair, replace, or install a new roof on your home, we will deliver timely and professional services every step of the way. One of the most basic human needs is having a roof over your head. While that is just a saying, the importance of high-quality roofing on your home should not be understated. If you are building a new home or need your roof repaired, you need to find the right person for the job. There are so many options out there and you need to vet each roofing contractor properly.
Recommendations and Reviews
There really is no better way to gather information about a roofing contractor than through reviews and recommendations. When someone has had personal experience with a company, they can provide insights on everything from the quality of work to how friendly they are. Fortunately, in the internet age, there is no shortage of review platforms and reviews to read. Check out sites like Angie’s List, Yelp and Google My Business.
It’s important to read at least a few positive reviews, neutral reviews as well as very negative reviews. Sometimes negative reviews can tell the most about a company. If the negative reviews seem petty the company is probably decent. These can also tip you off about shady business practices and worst case scenarios.
Word-of-mouth reviews are also very reliable. When someone you know and trust recommends a roofing contractor, it can give you a pretty accurate read on the roofing contractor.
Speak To The Roofing Contractor
Even if you get a review from a trusted friend or family member, checking out the contractor for yourself is essential. There are a few important questions to cover when you speak to them. Find out their full company name and address so that you can confirm they have all of the required roofing permits and credentials. Next, ask them for references and a portfolio of their past work so you can see what they have to offer. Inquire about their experience in similar roofing projects and what their projected timeline would be for your project. It’s also a good idea to see if they offer any warranties which would cover any issues that may arise in the future.
Meet In Person
Once you’ve checked out the reviews and interviewed a few companies, it’s time to meet your first pick in person. They should provide you with a written estimate of all costs involved in the job. If they pressure you to sign a contractor without having time to look it over, they may be a trustworthy company. By talking in person, you should be able to get a sense of the people who make up the company
Signing the Contract
Once you’ve done all of your due diligence, it’s time to sign a contract. A roofing contract should include a payment schedule, a detailed scope of work, and the projected timeline. Be sure to thoroughly read the contract before you sign it and don’t be afraid to seek a second opinion first if you are not completely satisfied with its terms. Once the contract is signed, it’s time for a new roof!

It’s important to keep your roof in good condition, as it’s your home’s first line of defense against the elements. Having a new roof put on your home is a big project best left to the professionals. An experienced roofing company will have the equipment and the expertise to keep your home and family safe throughout the entire process. That said, there are things you should do to prepare your home and your family for new roof installation to ensure the process goes smoothly.
Safeguard Children and Pets
Some children will find the roof construction exciting and want to get as close as possible to watch. Explain to them that during the installation of your new roof, certain areas of the yard are off limits. When removing the old roofing materials and transporting them to the ground, the falling debris could injure someone standing too close to the house.
Children, as well as most pets, may be frightened by the loud noises and if you have an infant in the house, nap time will be impossible. It may be more comfortable for everyone if you take the children and pets to visit friends or family during roof installation.
Move Your Vehicles
This is a good idea for a couple of reasons. First, your vehicles could be damaged by debris falling from the roof. Simply moving them away from the house could avoid any damage or the resulting inconvenience. Second, it will allow your contractor to move their vehicles closer, giving them easy access to their tools and equipment. Also, depending on the location of your driveway, the contractor may want to put a dumpster there to contain the removed shingles other discarded materials. This will make the roof installation process go smoother and quicker.
Remove Interior Decorations
There is going to be extensive banging and hammering throughout the roofing process. This will create vibrations which could cause pictures and other wall ornaments to fall and potentially be damaged. Before the work begins, walk through your home and remove anything in the walls and the ceiling that isn’t permanently mounted or screwed in. If you have anything stored in the attic, it should be covered, as the roof installation will create falling dust and debris. This will make the clean up easier.
Don’t Forget Outdoor Belongings
Outdoor furniture, BBQ grills, and decorations should also be moved away from the house to protect it from falling debris. This will also provide the contractor and their crew clear access to your roof without having to navigate around these items. If you have anything on your roof such as an antenna or satellite dish, these will also need to be removed before the work begins.
Prune Trees and Cut the Grass
Any tree branches hanging over your roof should be cut back to give the contractor and their crew clear and safe access to your roof. It’s also important to cut the grass the day before the roof installation is scheduled. The shorter the grass, the easier cleanup will be. The crew will use drop cloths to protect the plants and grass immediately surrounding your house. You may want to take extra precaution by putting crates or boxes over garden plants.
Access to Power Outlets
There may be equipment used during the roof installation that needs to be plugged in. Outdoor outlets are ideal but if you don’t have any, identify outlets close to a window or door that an extension cord can be run through. Extension cords can create a tripping hazard so try to choose outlets that aren’t in a high traffic area and make everyone in the house aware that they are there.
Tell Your Neighbors
Let your neighbors know when the roof installation will take place. This will give them the opportunity to move their vehicles if they are in close proximity. It will also give them time to adjust their schedules as they may prefer to be away while the work is being done.
